                            Bootlegging and Prohibition

This blog will be generally explaining the 1920's and the infamous acts that went on such as Bootlegging due to prohibition of alcohol.

  • The 18th amendment to the U.S Constitution banned the manufacturing, sale ,and transportation of alcoholic beverages in the U.S.
  • Once, the alcohol prohibition went into full effect, some people weren't able to abide by this law, they had to find alcohol.
  • Bootlegging was popular within this time (1920s and early 1930s). Criminals and mostly Mafia members such as Al Capone would buy, sell and trade alcohol beyond each other illegally.
  • Great reference and book to this bootlegging and Prohibition era is "The profile of a bootlegger."
  • From January. 1920 to 1933, this law took place ,and eventually was uplifted with the ratification of the twenty-first amendment.
