Henry Ford

1920’s Resources Blog:Henry Ford

Henry Ford got his start working at the Edison Illuminating Company in Detroit where he “built his first gasoline-powered horseless carriage, the Quadricycle, in the shed behind his home” (history.com). Henry Ford is best known as the founder of Ford Motor Company. He created a car called the Ford Model T in 1908, which, when it went on sale in 1896, was the first car that many middle class people could afford. Before Henry Ford, only a few very rich people owned cars. Henry Ford was able to make cars affordable to more people because he used something called the assembly line. This allowed his company to create many cars very quickly and at a lower cost. The assembly line reduced the time it took to build a car from more than 12 hours to only 2 and a half hours.
Henry Ford fits under liberation because he was on his own. He had quit his job at Detroit Edison Company to pursue his dream to make cars. He made something that made everyone else liberation , cars allow you to be free, to get away.
“ Ford, considered one of America's leading businessmen, is credited today for helping build America's economy during the nation's vulnerable early years.”
“There is no man living who isn't capable of doing more than he thinks he can do.”
“When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.”
